SaafConsult BV member of a consortium with Sachsen Wasser Gmbh and Consulting Engineering Salzgitter (CES) Gmbh, has been awarded the Tulkarem Water Supply Project – Human Resource and Organisational Development Programme in Palestine, through a competitive tender. The project, funded through KfW Development Bank, will run for one year and involves a series of international and Palestinian experts in providing technical assistance to the water supply departments of Tulkarem and Jenin municipalities.

Saafconsult has been contracted by Sachsen Wasser Gmbh of Leipzig, Germany, to provide a team leader for the KfW Development Bank financed “Rehabilitation of Urban Water Supply in the Sava River Basin” project in Bosnia-Herzegovina. The contract spans two years and includes technical assistance to billing and collection, design of a tariff structure, network maintenance, strengthening financial management and overall project coordination.

The company, established in 2005, is based in The Netherlands, but its consultants live and work worldwide. The company uses state-of-the-art Internet and Telecommunication techniques to ensure ease of access to the company.

The company was founded by Ele Jan Saaf, who is a Dutch national and a senior water management consultant with experience in more than 20 countries in the Middle East, South Asia and Central and Eastern Europe. Mr. Saaf is also a member of the Commission for Ecosystem Management (CEM) of the World Conservation Union (IUCN).

The mission statement of Saafconsult is, “To provide consultancy, project management and investments to projects, organizations and funds that contribute to sustainable use of natural resources in developing countries and countries in transition.”

Some of the main clients of SaafConsult are the International Fund for Agricultural Development, the World Bank, the German Development Bank (KFW), Netherlands Development Assistance, the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), the World Conservation Union (IUCN) and private sector firms such as Sachsenwasser (Germany) and Aquatech (Pakistan).
